Bandicoot Chronicles

Chapter one:part 3

“I’ll show him…I am not a weakling...” Troy mumbled as he walked back towards the castle. “What the hell does he know…he couldn’t possibly understand my situation...”  The steel blue marsupial pushed through the trees and bushes and finally got to the castle.

Troy stepped inside the castle doors and was surprised to see Cortex standing there, with a worried expression on his face. Troy walked up to Cortex, nonplussed.

“Sir…” Cortex looked up at him, the worry turning into fear. Something’s up with him, Troy thought. He’s normally not this scared. Cortex sighed and looked up at the steel blue bandicoot, the looked back down. Suddenly, the faint sound of laughing could be heard, and it was getting closer. Troy started to growl and bare his teeth.

“C’mon then…I can take you on…” He said to himself. The creaky door opened slowly and out stepped a figure with a cloak and hood. This figure was about as tall as Troy was, but not as well toned. Troy burst out laughing.

“This is what you’re afraid of, Dr.Cortex? HA! He ain’t nothin’ but skin and bones!” Troy continued laughing at the hooded figure, who just stood there carrying a scepter. Troy grinned. “Ok then bub, I’ll put you out of your misery!” With that, he charged at the figure, about to punch him. The figure raised his scepter and disappeared, so Troy’s punch hit nothing but air.

“What the?!” Troy exclaimed. He turned around and the hooded figure smashed him in the stomach with his scepter! The bandicoot doubled over in pain.  The mystery creature raised his scepter again and smashed him in the head, knocking the marsupial out. He stood there for a few minutes, before turning his attention to Cortex.

“Well, well, what a brave young soul.” The figure commented in his raspy voice. “Too bad he was too weak, I was hoping for a better fight.” He pushed his hood down and revealed his face.

He looked like a fusion between a bull and a reptile, most likely an alligator or crocodile. His fur was green colored, and he had dark red eyes. He had a bull’s face, but with sharp teeth that jutted out of his mouth, hinting at his reptilian side, he also had a yellow beard on his chin. His hands were also green, but he had white claws at the ends of the fingertips. His feet were hoofed, like a bovine’s. His long Alligator-like tail stuck out of his light brown hood. The scepter he had was gold colored, with a claw at the tip of it. In this claw held a dark purple gem, obviously the source of his power. Neo Cortex stared at him in awe, and then gave his head a little shake.

“What do you want with me?” He asked, fear and uncertainty creeping in his voice.   The creature gave a raspy chuckle.

“It’s not you I want, human, but your castle. It’s the perfect place for me to live in, and the area is suitable for me to perfect my powers.”  He responded. Cortex snapped out of his dazed stupor and forgot his fear.

“Do you really think I would give you my Castle, do you realize how hard I worked to build it; I’ll never give it to you!” He stated in righteous anger, but as soon as the evil being stared at him, all his courage dissipated.

“Oh, you will give me your castle; I’ll make sure of it. Oh, I haven’t told you my name yet. It’s Thylorin, but from this point on you will call me master!” He raised his scepter and pointed it at Cortex. Suddenly, a blank look appeared on Cortex’s face.

“Now you listen here, Since you are just a pathetic human, you will stay deep in the castle and work deep in the dungeons, never to come out, so long as I rule here.

“Yes..master..” Cortex said dully.  He shuffled out towards the dungeons. Though he was under control, he still knew the castle like the back of his hand.

“Hm…as soon as the rest of this castle is done, I can use my powers to control the planet. But, to get the ultimate power, I need a power source...hm…” He placed his clawed hand on his chin, pondering. Suddenly he knew!  He conjured up dark demons with his scepter.

“Listen here, go find me the last power crystal, it’s deep in the jungle of South America, go now!” The demons disappeared with a flash of dark.

The South American power crystal was the last and most powerful of all the crystals, the rest had been destroyed years ago. These weren’t the crystals that Crash Bandicoot had gathered, for they were much more deadly. These were the true forms of the power crystals he had collected.  Thylorin gave a sinister laugh.

“Soon, I will be all mighty once again, and I will be more powerful than ever before!”

Behind him, Troy was stirring. Blood was dripping off of his head, and as he saw Thylorin standing there, he put his head down, remembering what that Burgundy bandicoot had said to him. Maybe working with Cortex was a bad idea, after all, look what had happened. He didn’t know what to do. He was in a tight situation, and he wasn’t sure he could escape out of this.
